Internationally renowned journalist Rich Mkhondo has pledged to promote the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup globally.
Mkhondo takes over from Tim Modise, who rejoined SAfm, as the Local Organising Committee's new communications chief.
"It's an opportunity to put our country and continent on the map. It's an opportunity, if given the chance, nobody would want to miss," said Mkhondo.
"And I look forward to working with the football fraternity and with the team at the Organising Committee to make sure we communicate our readiness to host the world's biggest showpiece.
"It's a challenge I relish and I look forward to being part of the biggest sporting event in the world," said Mkhondo.
The Katlehong-born Mkhondo has worked for various newspapers locally and abroad. His appointment was approved last week.
