Maritzburg United looked disjointed in their 5-0 humiliation by SuperSport United last week. But they have been boosted by the return of key players for their tough encounter against Lamontville Golden Arrows in Pietermaritzburg today.

United welcome back Elias Ngwepe, Tony Tsabedze and Sam Ndlovu for the KwaZulu-Natal Absa Premiership derby that kicks off at 3.30pm at Woodburn Stadium.

The trio did not feature against Matsatsantsa. But United's coach Gordon Igesund will still be without the injured Gary Goldstone and Fadlu Davids.

It will be the first time United play in their home town this season after hosting Kaizer Chiefs in Chatsworth and AmaZulu in Hammersdale. They are rightfully inspired by this but they will need more than home support to overcome an Arrows side guided by Manqoba Mngqithi. They have enough in their arsenal to tear United to shreds.

The fact that Arrows drew a match they should have won against Thanda Royal Zulu in another derby last weekend has inspired them to go for the jugular against The Team of Choice.

Igesund will have to go at the visitors from the onset to unsettle them early in the game.

Bageta Dikulu should rely on his experience to contain Arrows forward Richard Henyekane.

Kagiso Senamela should also pose threats to United as he is influential in the midfield and dangerous going forward.

Igesund has the reinvigorated Lynch Pule, who could be a menace for Arrows in the midfield but Mngqithi will pin his hopes on Bafana Bafana's Kagisho Dikgacoi.

Arrows' success so far this season, which saw them registering victories over Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, has confirmed Mngqithi's tactical and technical savvy and Abafana Bes'thende should triumph today.

Another potentially enthralling Premiership clash is expected today when Platinum Stars welcome Santos at Mmabatho Stadium in North West. Kickoff is at 7.30pm.

Both teams go into this encounter with their heads high after resounding victories in their last outings. The Tycoons defeated Bay United 3-0, while Santos beat Free State Stars 2-0.

Stanley Kgatla is once again the key for Stars.

Eleazar Rodgers can score goals for the inconsistent Santos if he is let loose.
