Witbank Spurs coach Harry Nkosi believes it is crucial that they win their opening match of the 2008-2009 National First Division season against Jomo Cosmos on Sunday.

The two teams meet at Ackerville Stadium on Sunday at 3pm. The match was initially set for Saturday but because the stadium had been booked, the league changed it to Sunday.

Sivutha Umlilo, as Spurs are affectionately known, started last season badly but ended it on a high not. This was after they sacked their head coach, Cyprian "Mahala" Maimane, who is now Mpumalanga Black Aces' goalkeeper coach, and replaced him with Nkosi.

Nkosi started as caretaker coach but has since been appointed head coach.

"The team has not changed that much," Nkosi said. "We have retained about 95 percent of last season's players and added a few others.

"After starting badly last season and finishing on a high note, we are looking to build on that finish."

Andrew "Jaws of Life" Rabutla, Cosmos' manager, said the youthful Ezenkosi were looking forward to the game.

"Our team comprises youngsters who will be playing for the first team for the first time and they are all looking forward to the game."
