Bidvest Wits will be out for revenge when they host Santos in an Absa Premiership game at Milpark Stadium tonight at 8pm.
They will go into their opening match of the new season with more confidence after signing a number of quality players including three Brazilians.
In their two outings last year, the Students played to a goalless draw against Santos in Cape Town and lost 1-0 in Johannesburg in the next round.
George Mogotsi, Wits' manager, said his boys will be determined to set the record straight by sending the People's Team back home empty-handed this time round.
"There is no way that we can disappoint our fans on home soil, moreover after revamping the team by signing good and talented players this season.
"After a week-long pre-season training camp in Mafikeng last month, the boys looks sharp and are in a good frame of mind," said Mogotsi.
"However, we are not going to put pressure on them."
The players were hard at training yesterday under the watchful eye of coach Roger de Sa. New captain Sibusiso Mahlangu, the former SuperSport United utility player, and Richard Rantjie are likely to form a solid combination in the midfield.
"We are committed. We will give it our best shot because we have been toiling together for the past few weeks, preparing for the new season. Our aspiration is to finish the league in the top three bracket," said Mahlangu.
Wits are aware that they will be challenging a side that is among the best in the league since they acquired the services of coach David Bright.
Wits striker Brian Kgafane is an injury doubt.
