The lack of a standardised Grade 11 report cards poses problems for universities when pupils apply for admission.
University of Pretoria registrar Niek Grove said the absence of a standardised national report for Grade 11 pupils causes problems when processing applications for university entrance.
"Prospective students applying to the university are expected to submit Grade 11 school certificates indicating the subjects for which they are enrolled and their performance in the subjects.
"Schools issuing these certificates often use different names for the same school subjects, unrecognisable abbreviations or incorrect numeric codes to indicate subjects. They also don't differentiate between Mathematical Literacy and Mathematics.
"The university has written to the national Education Department requesting them to assist in drawing up uniform guidelines," he said. - Tebogo Monama
