Golf day a treat for women

The Crowned Plover Ladies Club will hold their third yearly women's golf day at the Roodepoort Country Club today.

The event, which has attracted a number of business people, is staged in line with the Women's Day celebrations that will be held countrywide tomorrow.

Thalita Zondi, one of the organisers said the day was dedicated to all women of South Africa and to promoting and encouraging other women to become golf enthusiasts.

She appealed to all golf loving women to come forward and join them in what she believes will be a fun-filled day.

"We're expecting about 80 women players and we believe that this day will serve as a platform to network and gain potential clients for businesses," Zondi said.

The green fee is R220 a person, including dinner, halfway house, welcome packs and fantastic prizes.

l The Southern District Golf Association and Youth Development programme will stage their monthly golf event at the Potchefstroom Country Club in Tlokwe on Sunday.

Guitar Mehloane, the organiser said the event was mainly to encourage youngsters to play the game.

He said everybody was invited and that the entry fee was R120 and tee-off time is at 10am.
