Pastor Mojo Mathebula of the Old Apostolic Church at Emaphupheni, Ekurhuleni, could not believe his eyes when he saw a chicken picking at the body of a newly born baby girl.
Mathebula was driving along a veld near Etwatwa Extension 3 and had stopped his car when he made the grisly discovery.
Mathebula was so shocked that he ran away and alerted community members, who called the police.
Constable Mabote Motopi said police were shocked to discover the baby's right leg and hand were missing.
Mathebula said he suspected that the incident was steeped in witchcraft and was muthi-related.
"How do you account for the chicken which had a white string tied to one leg? And what was it doing in such a secluded area, far away from houses? And the body was found with some of its parts missing."
Still shocked and traumatised, Mathebula said the incident made him realise the community should pray for God's intervention.
