Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said the incident happened on Sunday on the R618 at Machibini - which is situated between Mtubatuba and Umfolozi Game Reserve.
"The woman was trying to hitch a ride when two men accosted her from behind, blindfolded her with a cloth, tied her hands behind her back and carried her into nearby bushes," he said.
The woman told police she had been gagged and then raped. It was unknown whether both men had raped her.
"She did not see what her attackers looked like. Police are investigating," said Mdletshe. - Sapa
