The members of the notorious Matsabe gang in custody for a string of violent crimes has grown to five after the arrest of two members who had been on the run for the past three months.

The suspects, Strike Mkhonto, 42, and Edward Maphanga, 32, were arrested on Thursday night at their homes in Bushbuckridge.

They have joined their leaders, Moses Matsabe, 29, his brother Micheal, 36, and their cousin Rudolph Malandule, 36, in custody.

Micheal and Rudolph were arrested on March 19 in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, after allegedly trying to bribe investigating officer Mannie van Zyl with R50000 to release Moses Matsabe, Mpumalanga's most feared criminal.

They were arrested and charged with attempting to bribe a police officer.

Mkhonto and Maphanga face a string of hijacking charges. Moses Matsabe was arrested in Hendrina last December.
