A teenage boy is receiving counselling after witnessing his mother's lover shooting her to death in cold blood before turning the gun on himself.
The gruesome incident took place in Witpoortjie on the West Rand on Thursday morning.
Ditero Motsepe was just about to leave for school when his mother's ex-boyfriend, Thabo Masite, stormed into the house demanding to see her.
The 16-year-old told him that she was not in the house but Masite did not believe him.
Masite then approached the helper, who was outside, demanding to know where Grace Motsepe was.
"The helper said she did not know where Grace was," said Jimmy Nobanda, Motsepe's uncle.
"Masite stormed to the servants quarters, which were locked, and demanded that the helper open the door.
"When she refused he kicked the door down and found Motsepe hiding inside.
"He apparently dragged her screaming to the main house. Ditero tried to intervene, but was pushed away.
"In the lounge Masite grabbed Motsepe by the neck and shot her in the forehead. He then turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the chin first.
"When he realised he was not dead he finished himself off by putting a bullet through his head."
The Motsepe family was still in shock yesterday because of Masite's cruelty. They described him as a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Nobanda said Maste had been loving to Motsepe for the first two years of their relationship.
But in the last 18 months their relationship soured because of his roving eye .
"It is a known fact that the pair had serious problems over the past two years," Nobanda said.
"Masite was cheating on my niece and she would not have that. When she tried to cut ties with him he decided to kill her."
Police confirmed the incident yesterday.
