The end of January is near and yet 50 Mpumalanga pupils who sat for the matric examination last year have still not received their agriculture results.

The pupils from James Khoza High School at Cunningmore in Bushbuckridge said provincial education department officials told them that their answer sheets got lost during marking.

They said when the results came out, all the pupils who sat for the subject had no results.

"The department later sent the agriculture results but 50 of us did not receive ours.

"This is frustrating because time for us to negotiate with higher education institutions for places is gone," said Meshack Dlamini, the group's spokesman.

He said the group was also worried that the statements of results appeared to be unauthentic because the department had issued pupils who got their results with two different types.

School principal Joseph Nyoni confirmed the pending agriculture results for 50 pupils.

"I don't know what the problem is but I can confirm that the results are still pending.

"The provincial education department is still investigating," said Nyoni yesterday

Hlahla Ngwenya, the provincial education department spokesman, said he was aware that some schools in the province had not yet received the results in certain subjects.

"I may not know specific subjects but I'm aware that there are some schools that have not yet received their results."

He said some results had been withheld for several reasons, including suspected cheating and other discrepancies discovered in certain answer sheets.
