As children gear up for a month of summer fun and adventure, KwaZulu-Natal Tourism officials yesterday said there were "more than enough" fun activities planned for the festive season.
Deborah Ludick, Hibiscus Coast tourism coordinator, said one of the main attractions on the south coast was the Pepsi Summer Beach Tour which starts in Margate on Saturday.
Activities during the tour include speed-climbing up a grip wall, volleyball, cricket, soccer, oddball olympics with tug-of-war, sack races, egg and spoon races, three-legged chariot races, boules tournaments and disco dance competitions.
Another huge attraction is the Nivea Summer Beach festival which starts on December 16 at Ramsgate.
The Scottburgh Summer Splash Nightmarket also promises great fun for an evening of shopping. It takes place on December 13.
In Durban, tourism officials said there was something for everyone.
At Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World, shoppers can look forward to Happy Holiday Kids Trails which start on December 20 and end ten days later.
The Huletts Dolphins by Starlight takes place at Ushaka Marine World on December 13 to 15.
Meanwhile, the Umgababa Beach Festival takes place on December 15.
And those with a taste for curries can enjoy the challenge of cooking the largest curry for the Guiness Book of World Records. The cook-off takes place at Ushaka Marine World on December 15.
The spirit of Summer Beach Experience starts a day later. The Umhlanga Summer Carnival takes place between December 16 and January 6 at the Umhlanga Main beach.
