Gospel fever is high. An African channel dedicated to gospel has been launched in Johannesburg in the firm belief that gospel music will draw millions of fans.

One Gospel is the latest channel to punt gospel music. Located on DSTV's Channel 331, it goes on air this Sunday.

Aimed at giving African artists a platform, the channel will broadcast 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

TV personality and businesswoman Gerry Rantseli-Elsdon is one of the presenters. Other presenters include Richard Cyril, Roxy Burger, Selae Thobakgale, Nonhle Dube, Carly Fields and Nasieku Leshimphiro.

The satellite channel will showcase gospel music from all over Africa.

Musical director Abby Sibiya said One Gospel would give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the experience, interviews, concerts, praise and worship sessions, talk shows, artist interviews and magazine and game shows.

The station has already recorded live festivals in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.
