Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Department of Home Affairs officials at Orlando in Soweto were still on edge yesterday after they escaped being set alight by an enraged Malawian man whose permanent residence permit was not processed.
Albert Monza walked into the packed offices on Friday, carrying a two-litre container of petrol in a plastic bag, and waited for his turn with one of the officials.
When he was told that certain documents were still due from him, he screamed, saying he had paid someone at the office R5000 for the permit.
Monza started sprinkling petrol all over the place. He was stopped just before he struck a match.
Police were called and the enraged Monza was arrested.
