Please help my sick mother to get her pension payout. She now owes everyone and her phone has been disconnected, pleaded the pensioner's daughter, Nomusa Maseko.
Her mother, Goitsemang Maseko, 62, retired from teaching in December last year and completed all the required pension forms.
Pension funds are released within six months after resignation or retirement, unless the claimant has not supplied all the claim forms.
In Maseko's case, her pension could not be paid because there was no one to process the payment. The clerk was not always at work due to ill health, she said.
Maseko was a teacher at Catholic Diocese for 22 years and its pension fund is administered by Evolution group in Randburg.
Beauty, the personnel officer who makes payments, is in hospital.
"But surely there has to be someone who can carry on with the work," she protested.
She has been given excuses since April this year, she said.
Maseko said she had to hide from neighbours who lent her money.
"My mother owes a lot. She is sick at the moment and cannot go to the doctor because she has no funds," said her concerned daughter.
But Maseko's worries are near an end.
Wayne Kock of Evolution Group said his company had finally received the tax directive from Sars and promised to settle her matter expediently.
