Mahwelereng Spikes and Seleteng Giant Killers' perfect start in the new season underlined their eagerness to win the Limpopo Softball Association's Super League title this term.

Spikes are the defending champions, while Killers are the runners-up and the two teams, as has been the case in recent seasons, look set to ensure that the title race goes down to the wire again this season.

Former champions Lebowakgomo Wildbeasts and Moletlane Texas have also started perfectly this season and it remains to be seen if they will manage to keep the momentum until the end of the term.

The four teams are the only clubs who are unbeaten in two outings in the 2007-08 season.

Wildbeasts have the tendency to start well only to lose ground when the season progresses.

Spikes are perched on top of the log because of better runs, followed by Killers, Texas and Wildbeasts.

But chances are high that Killers will take over the lead after Sunday's matches at Mashite diamonds in GaMphahlele as Spikes are off this weekend. The GaMphahlele giants have been pitted against weak sides Seshego Cannons and debutants Sebayeng Sharks.

Cannons are seventh on the log with three points from two outings, while Sharks are bottom without a point from the same number of outings.

Newcomers Mashite Eagles could use their home turf to their advantage to beat Cannons in another match on the day. They also engage Red Scorpions. Texas entertain Scorpions and Sharks.

Pitch-off is at 10am.

l Frank "Ticks" Tladi, 40, the former pitcher of the now-defunct Mad Dogs Softball Club, will be buried at the Seleteng Cemetery in GaMphahlele tomorrow.

The service will be held at home in Seleteng and the cortege leaves for the cemetery at 10am.

Tladi, one of the polished pitchers in the 80s and 90s, died last Monday after a truck he was travelling in overturned.
