Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Eli Amor, a relatively unknown South African musician, has just hit the jackpot in the UK. Two of his songs are featured in the popular British soapie, World At Heart.
"I shot a video of the two songs with the producers of the World At Heart soapie sometime last year, and I forgot about the whole thing.
"Then a few weeks ago, a friend called me from the UK to say that I featured in the soapie," said the muso.
"I have not yet released my work locally and am currently working on my first album, which I will release in January."
Amor is a guitarist with extensive experience. He has backed other musos and has shared the stage with some of the world's best musicians including, John Legend and India Arie.
"I would like to encourage other musicians, especially up-and-coming ones, to explore all their talents in the arts. The fact that I am not a household name does not mean that I am not earning a good living as an artist," said Amor.
"For example, I acted alongside Denzel Washington in Cry Freedom as a 17-year-old student. I do a lot of corporate gigs and also give guitar and voice lessons to up-and-coming musicians," he said.
Amor leads five members in a band called Sahara.
