A Limpopo school principal is suing a female teacher for allegedly defaming him.

Albert Mahlangu, principal of Sango Combined School in Stofberg, has filed a R100000 lawsuit against Hilda Sebothoma, a teacher at the school.

Sebothoma confirmed having received the letter of demand.

However, she said the remarks she is accused of by Mahlangu are "work related and I have reported the matter to the Limpopo department of education".

Sebothoma is alleged to have made the defamatory remarks to Mahlangu at a school assembly shortly after she was robbed at gunpoint by balaclava-clad men in May.

She is also alleged to have addressed a parents' meeting, claiming that the department's policies were being disregarded.

She also claimed that schoolgirls had been raped by teachers.
