Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
The True Love ship is without a captain again. Former editor Busi Mahlaba has been promoted to join the publishing team of Media24 Women's Magazines as market development executive barely four years after she took the reigns from Khanyisile Dhlomo.
But the sales have dwindled to a point of desperation since Dhlomo's days as editor. At 117 000 copies per month, True Love has taken a gradual dive from figures that ranged around 170 000 in 1996.
Media24 Women's Magazines publisher Marí Lategan says that a new editor has not yet been identified.
Lategan says that as editor of True Love, Mahlaba has demonstrated her ability to communicate the needs of the black women's market and has done so "quite effectively to advertising clients and other commercial stakeholders".
She continues: "Her understanding of clients' needs and her background in research assisted greatly in this regard. We decided to tap into this specific skill to benefit the whole of Media24 Women's Magazines division. She will be working closely with the publisher and publishing team."
Mahlaba says she is "delighted to accept this new position as the last couple of years have introduced me to a dynamic industry for which I have an endless passion".
