Angry residents of government's flagship N2 Gateway housing project marched on parliament yesterday protesting high rents, poorly constructed houses and irregularities in the rent payment system.
The protesters carried placards bearing the words: "To hell with brick shacks" and "Gateway to Hell".
About 1000 residents from the 704 houses took part in the march and handed a memorandum listing their demands to housing official, Joseph Chepape.
Chepape said he would hand the memorandum over to Housing Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, pictured.
N2 Gateway residents committee chairman Luthando Ndabambi said outside parliament that the gateway project "was not what we expected".
