Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira believes he already has a solid foundation for South Africa's 2010 team.

"I am very proud of my team. I think they played well, but we still have lots of work to do. We have laid a foundation and we need to keep it," he said after Bafana crushed Chad on Saturday.

Bafana Bafana registered a record win when they walloped the weak central Africans 7-0 on aggregate in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Durban.

They routed Chad 3-0 in the first leg away at the dusty Stade Omnisport in March and clobbered them 4-0 in the second leg.

Parreira said there would still be changes in the team.

"Players need to know and understand each other, and for me to achieve that I will have to keep some players in the team. In today's (Saturday) match, we played well, but we gave too much space. Ball possession is very important," he said.

He said the issue of self-exiled Benni McCarthy was closed as far as he was concerned.

"I selected Benni. He had a chance to join us but he decided not to. The matter is now in Safa's hands and Benni himself," he said.

Parreira also denied that McCarthy would be available for the Congo game.

He expressed disappointment that the match against Uruguay had fallen through.

" We could not agree on financial terms with Uruguay and that should not be happening," he said.

Captain Aaron Mokoena and man of the match Sibusiso Zuma, were grateful of the support they received at the Shark Tank on Saturday.

Parreira's boys went into the match with one thing in mind, to win by a huge margin. They went on the rampage from the whistle and it came as no surprise when Chad goalkeeper Bouba Mamadou fouled Zuma and referee Michel Gasingwa awarded a penalty. Defender Nasief Morris made no mistake to open the floodgates.

Zuma put his name on the score sheet with a well-executed shot after connecting Delron Buckley's cross on the 22nd minute. For his second, Zuma made a solo run from near the centre line, beat defender and Captain Teinkor Nerambaye for pace, rounded the 'keeper before nailing it in.

Siyabonga Nomvethe and Benedict Vilakazi came in for for Surprise Moriri and Papi Zothwane.

Nomvethe sealed the contest when he made it 4-0 from Elrio van Heerden's pass.
