A joint operation between the Cullinan and KwaMhlanga police led to the arrest of seven suspected car thieves following a raid at Tweefontein, Mpumalanga, where six stripped vehicles, car parts and four engines were seized.

Tshwane police spokesman Captain Lucas Sithole said detectives had been investigating the activities of the gang for some time and on Friday their probe led them to a house in Kagiso, in Cullinan, where they arrested three suspects.

"Further inquiries led us to a chop shop in Tweefontein where we arrested four suspects. There we seized six stripped vehicles and four car engines," he said.

The suspects would appear in court today on charges of possession of suspected stolen goods. - Sipho Masombuka
