l In another incident, a 26-year-old man was arrested after he and an accomplice, who is still at large, allegedly raped and assaulted a girl who was picking oranges in Mevamhlophe at Mpangeni, in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Police spokesman Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said the victim and her cousin had gone to Zulu Estate Orange Farm to pick oranges.
They were picking in different lanes when suddenly two men appeared.
One of the men slapped the girl in the face and robbed her of her bracelet.
"She tried to run away, but stopped when the suspect pulled out a gun. Both the men grabbed her and pulled her to the ground," said Mdletshe.
"They took turns raping her and later dragged her deeper into the bush, where they raped her again."
When the other girl heard the screams, she ran off to call community members who caught the two men red- handed. One ran away, but the other was caught and handed over to the police.
A case of rape and armed robbery is being investigated.
