Matrics - you can do it

A message from Sowetan for the Class of 2010

HOORAY to the class of 2010 who have passed Matric. We rejoice with you at the end of your school life, though this is definitely not the end of learning.

You can go out into the world and get a job. You can also do the sensible thing and enrol at tertiary level. Matric is just the basic foundation on which to build your adult life. It is becoming increasingly clear that prosperity depends on the level of education one has achieved.

We sympathise with those who did not pass. At times in life we all trip and fall. Failure is not the end of the world. It is often the start of a great adventure.

We know that matric is sometimes a difficult gateway to adulthood and the working world. It is the final barrier to independence. But if others can pass that barrier, so can you.

Get up, dry your tears and try again.
