Halt madness

WERE it not for its wider ramifications for our body politic, it would have been easier to merely dismiss the rantings of the Northern Cape ANC Youth League offhand.

But the fragility of our nascent democracy demands that we guard it jealously against threats from such loose cannons as the ANCYL.

It is a fait accompli that Julius Malema and those he leads have morphed into monsters that threaten everything the ANC holds dear. If those outside their circle of friends do not rein them in and call a halt to their madness, they will imperil every bit of good our democracy was meant to be.

John Block's trial has hardly begun yet it is already branded a ploy to settle political scores. When did advocate Menzi Simelane, a Jacob Zuma appointee, suddenly become a rented dog?

Sane South Africa has a duty to stop these knaves now.
