Bucs drought

THE Ghost has failed to buy tickets for the so-called derby against Kaizer Chiefs. Orlando Pirates and Chiefs fans always fill the stadiums as they believe their absence will affect the game.

They behave as if the match was a matter of life and death. It usually is because a win means free beer in Orlando.

But as newspapers run headlines about the derby, the supporters are staying in. Pirates have failed to garner any silverware for some years now and the supporters are weary of the hoary excuses trotted out each time they lose.

After the World Cup many fans look at their clubs and players with a jaundiced eye.

The Ghost and Amakhosi faithful may adopt a new myth that says if they stay at home, they may win for a change. That less than 40 000 tickets for the game had been sold by yesterday is a terrible loss. Fans also make the game.
