Thai man sets fire to father's cash in revenge

A Thai man has admitted to burning 1 million baht (32,300 dollars) in cash he stole from his father because he had helped his brother financially and not him, said a news report.

Worapan Rojsattarat, 30, admitted taking the money from his father's gold shop, about 80 kilometres south-east of Bangkok, over several years and burning it, the Bangkok Post reported.

Police said they would not charge Worapan under the law which prohibits the defacing of any image of the king, because he did not intend any insult when he set fire to the 1,000-baht notes.

They said the central bank would examine the notes to see if any could be exchanged.
