The Mpumalanga man who was wanted by the police in connection with the murder of his wife and stabbing of their two children has handed himself in to the police.

Mandla Sibiya was wanted by the police after his wife, Fisiwe Msane-Sibiya,36, was found dead in a pool of blood at their house in Mataffin Park in Mbombela on Monday last week.

Next to her lifeless body were their two children aged 14 and four who were also stabbed.

Police said Sibiya arrived at the Nelspruit police station at the weekend after being on the run for almost a week.

“We can confirm that Mandla Sibiya has been arrested after he noticed that he had no place to hide after evading police for days. He has been charged with one count of murder plus two counts of attempted murder. The accused is appearing in the Nelspruit magistrate’s court on Monday,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Col Donald Mdhluli yesterday.

Mdhluli thanked the community and also the media for helping create awareness about the incident.

Neighbours have told how the couple’s eldest daughter called for help after the incident.

A neighbour who received a call from the 14-year-old child and was among the first people to arrive at the house said the children were found lying next to their mother, who was later declared dead at the scene.
