Wheelchair-bound Seshego mother says she wasn’t informed about special votes

A Seshego woman seemed sure Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema would take care of the rights of disabled people.

“The ruling party has forgotten about us disabled people; we struggle to get wheelchairs‚ walking sticks‚ and our disability grant is not enough to go by” said Elizabeth Botopela‚ 46‚ who resides in Hospital View in Seshego.

The wheelchair-bound mother of two‚ who has been residing in Seshego since 2007‚ said she was not aware of the special votes dispensation.

“I was not aware of special votes... next time they should inform us in time of these special votes so that we can also vote accordingly‚” Botopela said.

She said she knows the EFF leader personally.

“I know Malema well; he is very friendly to us and he is very passionate towards disabled people. I am not related to him‚ but as a member of the EFF‚ I know him‚ he is a nice person‚” she added.

Malema and his wife‚ Mantwa‚ are expected to cast their votes at Mponegele Primary School in Seshego‚ Malema’s birthplace.
