A Hammanskraal woman and her boyfriend accused of killing her husband were caught in bed the night before they allegedly murdered him‚ a policeman told the court at their trial on Thursday.

Warrant Officer Alfred Mauwane told the Moretele Magistrate’s Court in Hammankraal‚ north of Pretoria that Selaelo Lekalakala caught his wife‚ Fikile Mongwe‚ 36‚ and her alleged boyfriend‚ Innocent Pilusa‚ 21‚ in bed.

Mauwane was in the stand opposing Mongwe and Pilusa’s bail application.

 He said a neighbour heard Lekalakala’ screams on December 30th last year.

 “The Neighbour went to the deceased’s house to check and she found that [Pilusa] was assaulting the deceased while his wife watched. The deceased told the neighbour who intervened that he found them in bed and when he asked what was going on he was assaulted‚” he said.

Mauwane said Lekalakala‚ however‚ did not report the incident to the police.

Mongwe and Pilusa are accused of killing and burying Lekalakala‚ 61‚ in a shallow grave in a bushy area in Bosplaas.

Lekalakala‚ who was a government employee‚ lived with the two in his house in Ramotse Section‚ Hammanskraal.

He married Mongwe who initially worked as his domestic worker in March last year. This was after his wife died in 2014.

 Mauwane said Mongwe introduced Pilusa to her husband as her nephew who needed a place to stay while he looked for work.

Lekalakala’s body was recovered after Pilusa’s friend‚ who has now turned state witness‚ handed himself over to Temba police and pointed out the shallow grave. Lekalakala is yet to be buried as police are still waiting for DNA results.

Magistrate Neo Motsatsi-Kalil postponed the matter to Friday for further evidence.
