One dead‚ one injured in collision in Krugersdorp

An elderly woman was killed and another injured on Saturday morning when a light motor vehicle t-boned another at the Robert Broom and R28 intersection in Chancliff in Krugersdorp‚ paramedics said.

ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said that ER24 paramedics‚ along with another service‚ arrived on the scene at about 11.32am to find both wrecked vehicles in the middle of the intersection.

“Upon closer inspection‚ paramedics found an elderly woman lying in the one light motor vehicle. Assessments showed that she was in a critical condition with rapidly diminishing vital signs.

“The woman was quickly extricated from the vehicle‚ with CPR and advanced life support interventions being initiated.

“Unfortunately‚ after some time‚ no vital signs returned and the woman was declared dead‚” Meiring said.

A second person was found on the scene with moderate injuries. He was treated and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital by another service‚ said Meiring.

“The cause of this collision is not yet known but local authorities were on this scene for further investigations.”

In a separate accident in the early hours of Saturday morning‚ a man was left critically injured when his light motor vehicle crashed into a tree on Drysdale Road in Dawncliff‚ Randburg.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find that another service had already extricated the man from the vehicle‚ which was found in the middle of the road.

“Upon assessment‚ paramedics found that the man had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

“Paramedics treated the man and provided him with several advanced life support interventions. Once treated‚ the man was transported to a private hospital for urgent treatment‚” Meiring said.
