Three people were killed when a truck exploded near Piet Retief in Mpumalanga on Wednesday‚ the Department of Community Safety Security and Liaison said.
Department spokesperson Joseph Mabuza said two trucks‚ one of which was transporting chemicals‚ collided head-on and exploded.
“A sedan that was following one of the trucks was also involved in the crash‚” Mabuza said.
The three deceased were driving each of the vehicles involved in the crash.
The N2 Road is currently closed as the road is being cleared‚ Mabuza said. He advised motorists to use alternative routes.
