The Economic Freedom Fighters are gunning for all ward by-elections in which they intend unseating the African National Congress.

“We will be participating in all ward by-elections with the sole aim of removing the ruling party from government.

“Anywhere where we find an opportunity to remove the public purse from the hand of the corrupt ANC‚ we shall never hesitate‚ but strike with revolutionary precision‚” said EFF leader Julius Malema.

He was speaking at the party’s headquarters in Braamfontein on Monday‚ following the EFF’s 3rd plenum which was held in Kempton Park over the weekend.

The plenum’s objective was to discuss and forge a way forward for the party’s national plan of action for 2017 under the theme ‘The year of the branch’ as well as discuss strategic objectives.

“The 3rd national plenum also expressed itself that where the numbers increase in our benefit‚ we shall not only vote with the opposition‚ but we shall also take government‚” Malema emphasised.

The EFF is expected to have four scheduled leadership elective conferences — the Provincial People’s Assembly — scheduled to take place in KwaZulu-Natal‚ Eastern Cape‚ North West and Gauteng.

This is part of the preparations for the national election in 2019 to strengthen structures in the provinces and make sure the party is represented in every voting district.

This comes after the party failed to build on the momentum it developed at the ANC’s expense in the 2014 general elections.

“Our objective is to reach an agreement that we take municipalities without co-governing. The DA (Democratic Alliance) and other parties must allow us to lead government in municipalities as we have allowed them to do so in municipalities and metros like Tshwane‚” added Malema.
