Pravin Gordhan on NPA decision to charge him: "I am going to be very diplomatic"

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has commented on the announcement by national prosecutions boss Shaun Abrahams that he will be summonsed to appear in court‚ saying “I am going to be very diplomatic“‚ according to the PowerFM radio station.

“The Hawks are at it again‚” POWER987 News ?@POWER987News tweeted‚ attributing the comment to Gordhan.

“They know who my lawyer is but they went to my home to issue the summons.”

“The question is why.”

In New York earlier this month‚ Gordhan said the police investigation into him is nothing but “political mischief” and will be resolved soon.

“As far as the so-called investigation is concerned‚ that’s no more than a bit of political mischief‚ which every country will have‚” Gordhan said in an interview with Bloomberg TV. I’m sure we in SA will resolve these issues.”

He is being investigated by the police for overseeing the establishment of an investigative unit when he led the SA Revenue Service between 1999 and 2009.
