Caster’s win one of SA’s greatest moment in athletics: DA

Caster Semenya’s victory in the 800 metres at the Rio Olympics on Saturday night has been heralded by the Democratic Alliance as one of South Africa’s greatest moments in athletics.

“Caster‚ through her courage and determination‚ has given us all a reason to be proudly South African this morning‚” said DA spokesman on sport Solly Malatsi.

She was a winner long before the race even started‚ he said.

“Semenya’s performance en route to winning the gold medal will be cherished as one of South Africa’s greatest moments in the history of athletics‚” Malatsi said.

“We hope that her achievements will inspire millions of youngsters throughout the country that it is possible to attain the biggest accomplishment in sports through the pursuit of excellence‚” he added.
