Convicted rapist ready to defend himself in another rape case

A rape convict appeared before the Itsoseng Magistrate’s Court in North West on Thursday with a pile of documents ready to defend himself in another case of rape.

Naledi Mojahi‚40‚ told the court that he will continue to conduct his own defence. He is accused of raping a seven-year-old girl from Itsoseng.

He allegedly called the minor to a garage and started raping her.

According to court papers‚ the grandmother of the child heard her screaming and rushed to observe and found Mojahi‚ who is also known to the family‚ on top of the child.

Mojahi looked disappointed when the magistrate‚ Thabo Lephadi‚ told him that he was postponing his case because the presiding officer who was handling his case was on sick leave.

He listened attentively when told that he would only be able to tell the court his side of the story on September 2.

Mojahi was previously convicted and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on two counts of rape which are running concurrently.

This was after he raped two victims in Delareyville‚ also in North West. After the offence‚ he allegedly went into hiding in Itsoseng‚ which is where he allegedly raped the seven-year-old at her home.

According to the court documents‚ he then went to Brits and committed another rape offence. The police managed to trace and eventually arrest him after he gave the Brits police station his correct residential address.

He was then sent back to Delareyville where he pleaded guilty to raping two victims. Mojahi pleaded not guilty in the case of the seven-year-old‚ even after the child pointed him out as the perpetrator during an Identity parade.
