Worker found dead in idling truck at Medupi Power Station

A worker was found dead in an idling work truck at the change of shift at a coal stockyard at the Medupi Power Station near Lephalale in Limpopo on Saturday morning‚ Eskom said.

It said the worker‚ whom it did not identify‚ was an employee of an Eskom contractor.

The worker was the second contract worker to have died while on duty this week. On Wednesday‚ a worker was found dead in his office at Duvha Power Station near Witbank in Mpumalanga.

“Eskom management has been in contact with families and the South African Police Services are investigating both cases.

“Eskom extends its condolences to the families‚ friends and colleagues of the deceased‚” the electricity parastatal said.
