While Generations: The Legacy star Rapulana Seiphemo lies in hospital fighting for his life, the show has been scrambling to salvage the storyline.

Generations spokeswoman Gaaratwe Mokhethi said Seiphemo was key to the show in his role as high-powered businessman Tau Mogale.

"Though we are ahead in terms of episodes that we have shot, his situation will force the writing team to brainstorm something and maybe readjust the storyline. Writers might be forced to push other storylines while he is recovering."

She said since the accident that claimed three lives on Sunday night, the cast had been deeply affected and was recovering from shock.

Mokhethi added that the mood was sad at their studio. "The focus at the moment is for Seiphemo to recover than the story," she said.

Seiphemo, is recovering at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg. Family spokesman Mduduzi Sikhakhane said: "He is recovering well after undergoing a procedure on Monday afternoon. The doctors have asked us to give him time to rest."

He said it had been a difficult time for the family but they were holding it together.

Generations posted a statement on its website which said: "We would like to request that we all afford the family space to deal with the trauma. Rapulana is a fighter, he will pull through."

Seiphemo's close friend, comedian Kenneth Nkosi, said he had not seen the actor and referred all questions to the family spokesman.

Tshwane metro police department spokesman Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said he could not confirm if Seiphemo was with someone in the car at the time of the accident.
