The Gauteng Education Department has failed to supply grade 11 textbooks to schools in the Sedibeng West district‚ Democratic Alliance member of the Gauteng provincial legislature Khume Ramulifho says.
He said this was revealed when the DA visited secondary schools in the region.
“Out of the 47 Secondary schools in the Sedibeng West District (D8)‚ 17 schools received no set works‚ with the remaining 30 schools receiving full or partial orders.
“The average number of Grade 11s per schools we visited ranged between 200 and 340‚” Ramulifho said.
He added that he had written to the Gauteng MEC for education to establish whether this problem affected all grade 11 learners in Gauteng or those in the Sedibeng West district only.
