Cops hunt for mom who allegedly sexually abused her kids

Police are searching for a mother who is on the run with her three young children after an allegation of sexual abuse was made against her.

Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said they were appealing to anyone with information relating to the 37-year-old mother.

Van Wyk said the woman disappeared with her children - aged 6, 8 and 11.

He said the investigation started when the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit was notified about abuse that included three minors at a known guest house in Cape Town.

Preliminary medical examinations found evidence of abuse and the mother was informed, said Van Wyk.

"She disappeared with the children ever since," he said.

Van Wyk said a preliminary investigation also revealed that the mother was on her way to Durban with the children on Friday, December 18.

"We are investigating various charges related to the contravention of the Children’s Act. The circumstances surrounding the alleged sexual violations of the three minors are still under investigation," he added.

Anyone with information can contact the FCS Unit in Cape Town, and ask for Sergeant Sharon Appany on 021 467 6002 or 082 522 1084.
