Over 170 suspects nabbed for drug offences in Blue Downs Cluster

Operations executed by members of the Blue Downs police cluster in the Western Cape in the past week resulted in 175 arrests for drug-related offences.

During the operations police confiscated mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R4‚520‚ tik with a street value of R5‚550 and dagga with an estimated street value of R168‚000‚ police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut said.

Tracing operations led to the arrest of 19 suspects who were wanted for various crimes‚ he said.

“A total of 263 suspects have been arrested for charges relating to murder‚ attempted murder‚ assault common‚ assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm‚ drunken driving‚ reckless and negligent driving‚ possession of dangerous weapon‚ malicious damage to property‚ housebreaking and theft‚ possession of illegal fire-arms‚ dealing in liquor without a licence‚ theft of motor vehicle‚ intimidation‚ house robbery‚ child neglect‚ rape‚ and sexual assault‚” Traut added.

 “In law enforcement terms‚ it has been a successful week in the policing area of Blue Downs Cluster.”
