Cops to be deployed at malls for the festive season

Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane will on Friday launch the open the festive season deployment of cops at malls.

The top cop will lead a delegation on a visit to the Kolonade Mall in Montana‚ Pretoria.

“Police officials will also be officially deployed at the mall and at other malls and strategic areas which forms part of the back-to-basics approach to improve visibility‚ enhance policing and curb various crimes which tends to spike during the festive season‚” a statement said.

“The visits to shopping centres‚ malls and complexes will be an ongoing campaign‚ leading towards the festive season with the highlight on combined efforts by all role-players to ensure the safety of shoppers during this time.”

Phahlane’s visit coincides with one of the busiest retail days of the year – Black Friday. – TMG Digital
