Terror-accused twins Tony-Lee and Brandon-Lee Thulsie abandoned their bail application on Tuesday morning.

The 23-year-old brothers from Newclare appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court‚ where their lawyer‚ Annelene van den Heever‚ informed the court that her clients would no longer be seeking to be released.

Prosecutor Chris Macadam asked for a postponement saying the state was in the process of requesting evidence from foreign countries. This was granted and the case will resume on November 4.

They face three counts of terrorism relating to alleged attempts to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State terror group‚ and alleged plans to attack US and Jewish interests in SA.

Earlier on Tuesday‚ a group of community members from around Johannesburg gathered outside court on Monday calling for the release of Tony-Lee and Brandon-Lee.

“We want them to come out of prison because they were arrested unlawfully‚” said Fagrie Samsodien speaking on behalf of the group. He said there is no case against the Thulsie brothers. “We want a fair trial for them. They are innocent.”
