Strikers at the Table Mountain cableway will be back at work on Monday after a pay deal ended their stoppage.
The deal gives staff pay increases of between 8% and 13.5%‚ with lower income earners receiving the largest increase‚ according to a statement from cableway MD Wahida Parker and Crosby Booi‚ Western Cape secretary of the South Africa Commercial‚ Catering and Allied Workers Union.
More than 100 Saccawu members went on strike on Wednesday after rejecting an offer of a 10% increase to all staff earning under R10‚000 and an 8% increase to all staff earning over R10‚000.
“The cableway is operational and looking forward to workers returning on Monday 3 October‚” said Parker and Booi.
The cableway continued to operate during the strike‚ though with reduced hours.
