A couple who was photographed at a Shoprite store on their wedding day in a picture that went viral on social media wanted to share their special moment with colleagues‚ the supermarket group said.
The picture of the couple which was shared on social media this week shocked users who were surprised at the unusual venue selection for the couple’s wedding.
Shoprite spokesperson Sarita Van Wyk told TMG digital on Tuesday that the picture was captured at a Shoprite store in Botswana on Sunday‚ September 25.
“The photo depicts members of the wedding party of Onalenna Gaewe‚ a bakery assistant in Shoprite Maun‚ Botswana‚ who was married on Sunday‚ 25 September at a church in town‚” van Wyk said.
“On the request of some of her colleagues who were not able to attend the wedding‚ Onalenna and her bridegroom agreed to pay a quick visit to the store on their way to the reception venue‚ to receive their gifts and congratulations.”
Van Wyk said the the newlyweds were currently on honeymoon and would return to work on October 3.
