The state will be adding seven more charges of crimen injuria against the Durban woman whose k-word tirade directed at a traffic officer was caught on a cellphone recording.

Vicky Momberg appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday‚ facing one count of crimen injuria.

She apologised after being caught on camera repeatedly abusing black police officers using the k-word in February.

She had been involved in a smash-and-grab incident.

Prosecutor Yusuf Baba told the court that the state will be adding seven other charges to the one Momberg was already facing.

Her lawyer‚ Nardus Grove‚ told the court that he will obtain a preliminary psychologist report on behalf of his client. He also needs time to consult with Momberg‚ he said.

Outside court‚ Grove said: “I have not scanned or heard any of the recordings. I will peruse evidence and take further instructions from my client”.

Grove said the case had taken a toll on Momberg‚ who on Monday refused to comment on the allegations levelled against her.

“It’s very traumatic for her but she’s dealing with it to the best of her ability‚” Grove said.

eNCA reported on Sunday that a woman who worked under Momberg claimed she was driven out of her job by her repeated abuse.

According to eNCA‚ the woman laid a grievance at the CCMA against Momberg‚ detailing the abuse she says she suffered.

The woman claims Momberg also accused her of stealing potatoes‚ and said she was lazy.

Responding to questions put to him about this incident‚ Grove said her client denies any act of wrongdoing and that the woman was absent from work on several occasions.

“My client filed several grievances against the worker. The problem arose when she filed those grievances.”

The Randburg Magistrate’s Court postponed Momberg’s case to September 6.
