Chris Hani foresaw Nkandla coming - Maimane

Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane believes slain struggle icon Chris Hani foresaw the emergence of elitist politicians.

'I think Chris Hani foresaw that one day Jacob Zuma will arrive and emerge and as an elitist who drives around in a fancy car and lives in a palace using taxpayers’ money. Another way of saying what Chris Hani said: he said the ANC of today is just another Nkandla coming."

The DA leader was speaking at his party's final election rally in Dobsonville‚ Soweto‚ on Saturday ahead of the August 3 local elections.

Maimane went on to add that "Zuma governs as if black people and black lives don’t matter".

"Under Zuma the ANC is keeping black people in poverty while in fact their leaders are getting richer." he said.

ANC died when Zuma was elected

"I could not imagine that the party of Nelson Mandela‚ the ANC would abandon us and abandon its values and abandon the people of this country‚" he told his cheering supporters who filled the 25‚000-seater stadium.

"That day came in December 2007 when Jacob Zuma was elected president of the ANC in Polokwane. That day marked the end of the ANC of Madiba and began a very strange organisation."

The DA leader said the ANC has become a party of crooks.

"On that day the selfless struggle gave way to selfish accumulation‚ non racialism gave way for a politics of race and the politics of the heart gave way to the politics of the stomach."
