One person was killed and 10 others injured when the bakkie they were traveling in overturned on Matupa Road in Tzaneen in Limpopo in the early hours of Sunday‚ paramedics said.
ER24 said when its paramedics arrived on the scene of the accident at about 2.30am they found the bakkie wedged up near a telephone pole on the side of the road. The occupants of the bakkie were found lying near the vehicle.
“One person was found with fatal injuries and declared dead on the scene. The remainder of the patients were treated for lacerations‚ scrapes and bruises. They were later transported by various services to Letaba and Van Velden Hospitals‚” the emergency medical service said.
“At this stage it is not clear if a second vehicle was involved in the collision. Local authorities attended the scene and will conduct an investigation‚” it added.
