Leader of the Zimbabwean protest movement #ThisFlag pastor Evan Mawarire is not only an instigator of violence but also a thief‚ according to the country’s law officials.

A search and seizure warrant issued by the Justice of Peace has said Mawarire is “believed to be in possession of a stolen police helmet‚ button stick and other subversive material which he used to incite public violence on 6 July 2016 and others for intended use on 13 July 2016 for public violence‚” read the warrant.

Mawarire‚ 39‚ was arrested on Tuesday and charged under the Criminal Law Act‚ for “incitement to commit public violence” after calling for a public stay away on July 13 and 14 in a bid to get President Robert Mugabe to put an end to corruption and police brutality.

The search warrant allows the police to investigate all occupants and items at the pastor’s Avondale house in Harare‚ “day or night”.

According to reports‚ the law under which the bespectacled pastor has been detained carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years. According to Zimbabwean law‚ he must appear in court within 48 hours.
