Snow predicted in the ’Berg for Wednesday

KwaZulu-Natal is bracing itself for a big chill this week with snow expected in the Drakensberg from Wednesday.

The South African Weather Services and the Snow Report website both predicted light snow in the mountains.

“This Wednesday‚ starting in the early evening and extending into the early hours of Thursday morning‚ there is a strong possibility of light snow over the high peaks of the Sani Pass region of the Drakensberg as well as over the Maluti Mountains in Lesotho around Afriski‚” said Snow Report‚ which provides updates on snow sightings.

SA Weather Services meteorologist Wisani Maluleke said a cold front has been predicted for the province and along with it heavy rain on Tuesday night in the Underberg region‚ stretching to Kokstad and Margate.
